WA State House Bill 2573 #LegalizeWrestling

Fans in Washington State may be interested in reading more about a bill currently in the House which would force the Department of Licensing to conduct a review on whether or not pro wrestling in the state needs to be regulated. The incredible expense of complying with state regulations is why there is very little pro wrestling in Washington state.

  1. Oregon needs to revamp their system as well. Do I think that wrestling needs to be regulated? Yes I do. I think promoters need to be licensed and need to carry liability insurance and surety bonds. However, the excessive fees that the Athletic Commissions charge are way too excessive. In Oregon you pay $100 per year per town you run or $1000 statewide. They then tax you for 6% of your total gross. Keep in mind you still have to pay your state and federal taxes, the 6% tax goes directly to the athletic commission within 72 hours of your event.
