Portland Wrestling Uncut T.V. recap - 3/23/13

-Show opens with Roddy Piper and PNW champ Big Ugly heading to the ring. Piper says nobody will be cutting Ugly's mic this week and he'll be in the control booth to make sure of it. Ugly talks about buying his own plane ticket to come to the shows, and then being talked into staying to do the house shows for free. I think Ugly may be @indieswrestler. Ugly calls out the promoter so he can kick his ass. Coss points out this never happened to Don Owen. Maybe it would have if Austin vs. McMahon had been big in his era.

-Joe V interviews the Blanchards and Mr. Ooh La La. Jeremy accuses Ooh La La of stealing his pay days. Bubba continues the Ugly trend that they wrestle for the fans not for money. Maybe he's @indieswrestler. Also, they are heels so why are they playing to the fans? Or are they babyfaces, but their manager is a heel? I thought Jeremy was a face, but Bubba was a heel because he hired Ooh La La. I'm so damn confused.

-Match #1
PNW tag champs the Blanchard Brothers defeated Ethan HD and Eric Right when Jeremy pinned HD after a Canadian Destroyer

-Backstage, Piper breaks up the Pat Large/Colt Toombs tag team so they can raise the bar and learn to wrestle as singles. He books Toombs and Large in singles matches. Large mouths off about his opponent, so Piper changes it to Buddy Highway, who has a big weight advantage over Large. After Piper leaves, Large asks Toombs if Piper's having a bad day, which causes Toombs to grab him by the throat and warn him not to talk about his dad. Seems like a bit of an overreaction by Colt.

-Match #2
Colt Toombs defeated Quiz after a Superman Punch

-Joe V interviewed Patrick Large. He says he's been screwing up a lot today because in the matter of 12 seconds he pissed off Piper and Colt and hopes his opponent Buddy Highway isn't mad at him too. He says he will take Colt's advice and man up.

-Match #3
Patrick Large defeated Buddy Highway by DQ when CJ Edwards interfered. Colt Toombs ran in for the save and he and Large cleaned house on Highway and Edwards.

-Backstage, Joe V interviews Roddy Piper and Terry Emerret (sp) who I assume is a sponsor since they plug his new state of the art athletic facility, 212 Sports. Joe V teases running shows there instead of the studio so they could have more fans in attendance. This was a terrible advertisement, because they didn't even say where the athletic complex was located, and the name was only mentioned via a graphic on the screen.

-Joe V interviews Big Ugly, who again complains about not getting paid. He calls out the promoter Pete Schweitzer, who reluctantly makes his way out. He says since Ugly's big complaint is not getting paid, he's going to fix the problem by giving $500 to the next guy to come out and get his title belt back for him. Mike Santiago comes charging out and we have a title match.

-Match #4 - PNW Championship Match
PNW champ Big Ugly defeated Mike Santiago with a modified spinning neckbreaker

-Backstage, Piper is talking to Exile about being slapped around by the Grappler. He explains that when he was a kid, when he had trouble with his dad, he used wrestling as an escape. Now he puts up with Grappler's crap so he can be an escape for fans. Piper suggests that someday he slap Grappler back. Exile says he will eventually pay Grappler back with interest.

-Joe V interviews Thunder and Wade Hess. They have papers taped on their shirts and trunks that say YOUR AD HERE. Hess says they will sell ads as a way around the promoter not paying them.

-Match #5
Wade BY GOD Hess & Thunder defeated Exile & Dr. Kliever when Hess pinned Kliever after the Grappler accidentally hit Kliever with his loaded boot
Hess got busted open, so they blurred his head until he covered it with a bandana. After the match, all the wrestlers got in the ring and chanted "we're not gunna quit."

I really hate this evil promoter angle so far. Imagine if your friend worked in a store and his boss wasn't paying him, but he went to work every day because he cared about the shoppers. You'd think that guy was a moron. That's how I feel about the wrestlers every time they say they aren't getting paid but keep wrestling for the fans. I don't want to watch a show where I think the main characters are all idiots. It's also weird that all the wrestlers seem to be turning face.

BCW Promoting Barbed Wire Match

Blue Collar Wrestling is putting on a barbed wire match between Damon Scythe and Eric Hanson on a special Saturday night show called March Massacre.

The event takes place Saturday March 30th at the North Portland Eagles Lodge.  Not sure when bell time is.

DOA Update

I haven't been able to get to many shows lately, for various different reasons, and unfortunately I haven't had much luck getting results. As always, if you attend an event, please e-mail me the results. There are plenty of people reading this blog, and I'd like to get as much coverage for all the different promotions as possible.

Below is what info I've been able to gather from recent DOA events.

-On the February 10th show at the East Portland Moose Lodge, Dr. Kliever won the DOA title. The story goes as follows: Exile was supposed to get a title shot at Quiz due to winning the DOA Rumble in January. Exile never showed up, so his tag team partner Kliever replaced him. Kliever won the title with help from Pat Large and MJ Payne. Exile showed up after the match and revealed that Kliever had caused him to miss the event.

Video of the match actually exists and is available here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2stSMftEOpM

-J_Sin Sullivan won the Keizer Rumble on 3/8, and on the same show Wade Hess defeated Jeremy Blanchard in a dog collar match for the DOA version of the PNW title.

-The Super Stache Brothers vacated the tag team title, which was then won by CJ Edwards and Ricky Gibson in a Gauntlet match on the 3/10 show at the East Portland Moose Lodge.

-Also on 3/10, Dr. Kliever defeated J_Sin Sullivan to retain the DOA title in a loser leaves town match. MJ's goons interfered and in fighting them off, J_Sin accidentally KO'd the ref. Exile and Quiz cleared out MJ's guys. Quiz hit Kliever with a superkick, but when Exile attempted to spear him, Kliever pulled J_Sin in front and he took the spear, leading to Kliever getting the pin.

Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=5rVbIHY5uw8

-Next show at the East Portland Moose Lodge is on WrestleMania weekend, so it will be on Friday night instead of the usual Sunday. I'm a big fan of this. I hate Sunday for local events. During football season I want to watch football on Sundays, and all year long the national groups run their PPVs on Sundays. So I'm a happy camper for a Friday show.  Anyway, the card info is below.

East Portland Moose Lodge - Friday 4/5 at 7 PM
DOA title match - Dr. Kliever (c) vs. Quiz vs. Exile
DOA tag team title match - CJ Edwards/Ricky Gibson (c) vs. Draven Vargas/Pat Large
DOA Pure title match - Mike Santiago (c) vs. Nate Andrews
DOA PNW title match - Wade BY GOD Hess (c) vs. Gentleman George Michael
Bubba Blanchard vs. Ethan HD
Eric Right/Jonas Robinson vs. Kellen Raeth/Jorel Nelson

Portland Wrestling Uncut T.V. recap - 3/16/13

-Show opens with Roddy Piper coming out with Thunder's little boy. Don Coss is back, but Joe V is on commentary with him, so that is good news. Piper says the wrestlers are on strike, and he now understands why Vince McMahon is always so mad at him. He sympathizes with the wrestlers and buries the promoter. Piper brings out Thunder, who is sporting the brand new Thunder t-shirt, which I assume you can conveniently buy at any live event. Before Thunder can say much, the Grappler comes out with Wade BY GOD Hess. Grappler tells Hess to stand in the corner and be quiet because he owns his contract. Piper challenges Grappler to put Thunder in a No DQ match against one of his guys, and if Thunder wins, Grappler frees Hess from his contract. If Thunder fails, Piper will give Grappler $10,000. Grappler agrees to the stipulations, but says Thunder must face Exile, Dr. Kliever, AND Mike Santiago.

-Joe V interviews Mike Santiago, who isn't happy about being put in the 3 on 1 match without agreeing to it, but says he will kick anyone's butt.

-Match #1
Mike Santiago defeated Gentleman George Michael after the roaring elbow
Josh Wilcox is back, joining Don Coss on commentary. I like Wilcox. If it were possible, I'd make Joe V and Wilcox the full time announce team, with Piper sitting in when he can. Not really sure why this match is happening if the wrestlers are on strike. Nothing is explained. Are only the babyfaces on strike? Is the strike off because Grappler agreed to put Hess' contract up? So many questions, so few answers.

-Joe V interviews Santiago again, who cuts a promo for the 3 on 1 match. Thunder and Piper interrupt and Thunder lays Santiago out with the cowbell on a bullrope. Thunder reminds Santiago the match later is ANYTHING GOES.

-Joe V interviews Mr. Ooh La La, who says the promoter wants him to do for some of the other wrestlers what he did for the Blanchards. He brings out Ethan HD, who is the first guy he will potentially work with. He says HD claims to be a great rapper, so he raps to prove it. Ooh La La is not impressed.

-Match #2
Ethan HD defeated Quiz after a running knee to the head
Joe V announces that Santiago is out of the 3 on 1 match because Santiago is hurt after Thunder's attack. So now the match is a 2 on 1 with Thunder vs. Exile and Kliever.

-Flashback from 1989 - Battle of the Southern Rockers: Steve Doll vs. Scott Peterson, ending with Scotty the Body (Raven) joining Peterson in attacking Doll

-Match #3
CJ Edwards vs. Eric Right ended in a no-contest when Big Ugly attacked both men
Ugly explains that the wrestlers are on strike and it pisses him off these young guys are still wrestling. He says he respects Edwards and Right, but he's trying to protect them from working for somebody that doesn't care about them and doesn't pay them. He totally buries the promotion and the promoter personally until his mic gets cut and the show goes to commercial.

-Joe V interviews Roddy Piper and Dominic Hess, who is Wade BY GOD Hess' teenage son. Piper says that Hess has refereed 30 pro matches. If you go to DOA shows you've probably seen him referee. Piper makes Hess' son the referee for the handi-cap match, which infuriates Grappler.

-Match #4 - Anything Goes, Piper's $10,000 vs. Wade Hess' contract
Thunder defeated Exile and Dr. Kliever when Thunder pinned Kliever after hitting him in the head with a kendo stick
The story of the match was Piper stacking the deck in Thunder's favor so justice would be served. Exile had Thunder pinned, but Hess' son tied his shoe instead of counting three. Later it was Piper who brought the kendo stick out and gave it to Thunder which led to the pinfall. After the match, Hess slapped Grappler and tore up the contract. All the wrestlers came out to cheer Thunder and Hess on. Is the strike over? If so, somebody better tell Big Ugly.

Portland Wrestling Uncut T.V. recap - 3/9/13

-Joe V and Roddy Piper on commentary. Don Coss will be back next week. BOOOOOO.

-Joe V interviews the Blanchards, Mike Santiago, and Mr .Ooh La La.  Santiago is now managed by Ooh La La.  Jeremy is pissed at Ooh La La because his antics have caused Matt Borne to align with Toombs and Large.  Bubba defends Ooh La La because he signed Santiago.

-Match #1 - Six-man tag team match
Mike Santiago & PNW tag team champs the Blanchard Brothers defeated Matt Borne, Colt Toombs, and Patrick Large when Santiago pinned Large with a fisherman buster

-Hey, there's a live event in Milwaukie (outside Portland) on Tuesday. No card or even wrestlers announced as appearing. Sure makes me want to go.

-The Grappler's Pit with guest PNW champ Big Ugly. Grappler and Ugly exchange pleasantries, leading to Grappler challenging Ugly to a title shot on behalf of Exile. Ugly makes fun of Exile's terrible promos and even shows video to prove it. He says Exile has the charisma of Steven Hawking. Not quite that bad, but close. Exile finally has enough and KO's Ugly with one punch.

-Joe V interviews comedian Gabriel Iglesias. He introduces the masked luchador who helped him last week - Azul Angel.

-Match #2
Azul Angel defeated CJ Edwards with the feared lucha move, the cradle

-Josh Wilcox interviews Wade BY GOD Hess. Before Hess can even say a word, the Grappler interrupts and complains to Wilcox about not being a guest on his radio show.

-Match #3
Nate Andrews defeated Wade BY GOD Hess
The story here is that Andrews use to be Hess' roommate and they are close friends. Hess has a big size advantage, and Grappler wants Hess to destroy Andrews, but Hess won't do it. Grappler and Exile beat up Andrews outside the ring, and the ref inexplicably doesn't call for a DQ. Grappler slaps Hess and tells him to pin Andrews. Hess pulls Andrews on top of him and lays down for the pin. Hess goes to the back, but Exile destroys Andrews with a spear.

-Joe V interviews Thunder, who is accompanied by his son and Hess' son. Thunder says he's been friends with Hess since grade school and considers him a brother.

-Match #4 - Wade Hess' contract is on the line
Thunder NC Kahagas
Hess and the kids come out and take a seat in the bleachers to watch the match. Kahagas uses the kendo stick, ring bell, chokes, and other illegal tactics, but Thunder refuses to quit and won't allow the ref to call for a DQ because he has to win by pinfall to free Hess. Hess is at ringside pleading with Thunder to quit. Big Ugly and all the babyfaces hit the ring and run Kahagas off to save Thunder. Ugly says if the promotion doesn't fix the problems with the Grappler then all the wrestlers are going on strike. Piper joins the strike.

Portland Wrestling Uncut T.V. recap - 3/2/13

Before we get to today's show, since I never got around to doing a recap last week, here are quick results of last week's show:

1) Patrick Large & Colt Toombs defeated PNW tag champs the Blanchard Brothers in a non-title match
2) Exile & Wade Hess defeated Buddy Highway & Dr. Kliever
3) Thunder defeated Shane Douglas by DQ when Douglas used the kendo stick
4) Dr. Kliever defeated Ethan HD
5) Big Ugly defeated PNW champ Daivari to win the title

-Show opens with Joe V interviewing the new champ, Big Ugly. Comedian Gabriel Iglesias comes out.  Big Ugly is the Heavyweight champ of wrestling and Big Fluffy is the Heavyweight champ of Comedy.  Grappler and his stable come out. He is less than amused by Big Fluffy and challenges them to a tag team match tonight. Now Roddy Piper comes out. Iglesias starts cracking jokes about the Grappler, and Dr. Kliever is in the background trying, and failing, not to smile. Now Ethan HD comes out. They are running out of room in the studio. HD says Piper is putting him to sleep, so naturally Piper literally puts HD to sleep with the sleeper hold. Ugly makes fun of Exile and Kliever and then accepts the challenge.

-Backstage, Iglesias is walking around the locker room trying to get some help for his match but none of the guys are interested.

-Joe V interviews Colt Toombs and Patrick Large. Joe V makes fun of them for being outsmarted by Mr. Ooh La La last week. Matt Borne comes out and starts making fun of them too. He says he will stay out and watch their match because he wants to help them.

-Match #1
Colt Toombs & Pat Large defeated Eric Right & Mike Santiago when Large pinned Right with a crucifix into a sunset flip. After the match, Santiago attacked Right. He complained about being stuck with sucky partners and says tonight is the beginning of the Order of Santiago.
Roddy Piper is in the back helping Gabriel Iglesias, so Josh Wilcox fills in on color commentary with Joe V. Wilcox was a football star at the University of Oregon in the 90s, and had a run for Ivan Kafoury's Portland Wrestling from 97-00. He was trained by Matt Borne and drew the last big crowd in the area (800-1,000) for his debut against Bruiser Brian Cox. He also played in the XFL. History lesson over.

-Joe V interviewed The Grappler, Kahagas, and Wade BY GOD Hess. Grappler calls Hess the weak link in his stable and orders him to watch Kahagas.

-Match #2
Kahagas defeated Buddy Highway. After the match, Kahagas beats on Highway with the kendo stick. Hess covers Highway to try and stop the attack, but Kahagas just beats on him too. Thunder comes out and Kahagas stops his attack. Grappler says if Thunder can pin Kahagas next week, he will release Hess from his contract.

-Backstage, Iglesias walks in on Bubba Blanchard stretching while Mr. Ooh La La cheers him on. He simply turns around and walks out of the weird scene.

-Joe V interviews Quiz. Mike Santiago interrupts and they set up a match for RIGHT NOW.

-Match #3
Mike Santiago defeated Quiz with a German Suplex
Jeremy Blanchard joins Joe V on commentary. I really hope Don Coss being gone is permanent, because Joe V is really good and the show has been better over the last few weeks because of it.

-Backstage, Iglesias confides in Piper that he is really scared to get into the ring. Piper tells him he is in a lot of trouble and walks off.

-Match #4
PNW champ Big Ugly & Gabriel Iglesias defeated Dr. Kliever & Exile when Iglesias pinned Kliever
Roddy Piper is back on commentary. Iglesias comes out wearing boxing head gear. He waves to the crowd and immediately gets out of the ring. Finish sees a ref bump. Ugly cleans house on all the heels,. A masked luchador comes out from under the ring and and gives Kliever a huracanrana and then chokes him out. Iglesias comes in and puts the unconscious Kliever in a sleeper hold and gets the win.
